Renovation of Likabali veterinary dispensary, staff quarters demanded
ITANAGAR, Dec 8: Likabali Unemployed Youth Association (LUYA) appealed to the Likabali SDO to do the needful for early renovation of the staff quarters and building of Veterinary Dispensary in Likabali which are lying in very poor condition.
The association in a representation to the SDO stated that the authority despite repeated requests has not taken any initiative for renovation of the staff quarters and the dispensary buildings.
According to LUYA, the staff quarters and dispensary building have not been renovated since its establishment in 1992. The association also stressed the need for setting up a veterinary check gate at Likabali to prevent spread of animal diseases from out side the state.

Female sterilization camp at Seppa
SEPPA, Dec 8: In all 240 women registered their names in a District Health Society conducted female sterilization camp conducted under family planning program of National Health Mission (NHM), of which 81 clients attended for sterilization at district hospital here on Monday.
The camp was jointly inaugurated by 10th Papu Valley ZPM Mering Natung and 9th Papu Valley ZPM Yalum Cheri.
During the inaugural function, DRCHO Dr. K Lapung briefed on objectives of the NHM like reducing Infant Mortality Rate (IMR), Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) and Fertility Rate (FR) and informed that the camp was organized to achieve objectives of reduced Fertility Rate. He further said that the department has been making every effort to achieve the objectives of various NHM programs to reduce maternal death in the district and make it polio and measles free through proper implementation of Mission Indradhanush.
DMO Dr. C Lowang and Dr. K Gyadi also spoke on the occasion.
The sterilization camp was conducted by a team of doctors and medical staff of ASH and RKMH led by gynecologist Dr. Bombei Tayeng.

Fingerlings released in rivers of

AALO, Dec 8: Fingerlings procured on self help basis were released in Hipu, Hiyik, Rele, Ipu and Ike rivers of Angu and Doyor villages.
The Committee formed by these two villages has banned fishing using electricity, nets, bleaching powders, bow and blast fishing etc in those rivers. Violators would be imposed fines upto Rs. 50,000 by the Village Committee.

ITANAGAR, Dec 8: The Bomdila Large Sized Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited has sought clearance of its long pending HTS bills saying that it is running the PDS on cash credit availed from the banks, govt. and others and there is huge liability to be paid to the banks, govt and others.
In a release saying that clearance of pending bills of Bomdila, Dirang and Rupa LAMPS to the tune of Rs 9.56 crores are given top priority, it reasoned that the people of West Kameng district are totally dependent upon PDS Rice.

of compensation to fire victims
ITANAGAR, Dec 8: United Students’ Federation of Aalo (USFA) and Pushi Banggo Students’ Union (PBSU) appealed to the Chief Minister to provide sufficient relief and compensation to all the fire victims of Doji Jeko village under West Siang district for their quick rehabilitation.
14 houses were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire accident that broke out on December four rendering many families homeless.
Lauding Parliamentary Secretary Techi Kaso for visiting the fire victims immediately after the accident and providing relief to the victims, both USFA and USFA appealed to the district administration to assess the properties lost or damaged and forward it to the competent authority for early compensation.

Dengue awareness campaign held
YUPIA, Dec 8: The District Vector Borne Disease Control Society in collaboration with Itanagar Municipal Council (IMC) conducted Dengue awareness campaign in various wards and schools within the jurisdiction of the municipality.
The public were imparted knowledge about dengue fever, its signs and symptoms, preventive measures, diagnosis and treatment during the 20 days campaign conducted under the supervision of DMO Dr. S. Ronya.
Besides dengue, public were also sensitized about various other vector borne diseases, like Malaria and Japanese Encephalitis etc, which is becoming a threat to public health, especially in urban, semi urban areas.

Niglok IGC yet to see light of the day

Apart from two small scale industries -
Set up at Niglok, 7 kms from Ruksin headquarter, the IGC, which once brought new hope among the entrepreneurs, is yet to see the light of the day even after 26 years of its commencement in 1988. The IGC designed with installation facilities of various production units including bamboo, tea and food processing, cold storage, machinery weaving is running without men and machines till date.
On the other hand, Vinayak Tea Company, a Kolkata based company has agreed with the State industries department for setting up of tea processing unit in the industrial complex, but the local people are yet to notice any development in this regard so far. The 1000 MT Capacity 3 storied Cold Storage project at Niglok IGC, which was commissioned during last part of 2010 has been lying defunct as there is no adequate power supply.
The local people are upset on the fact that many ministers, MLAs and top ranking Industries department officials have repeatedly visited the IGC from time to time and assured the local people that they would take the industry to a new height. Finally, local MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary for Industries (Independent), Tatung Jamoh has taken up the issue with the Chief Minister for taking strategic steps. But it remains to be seen how he is going to contribute for the development of the IGC.
Most of the buildings constructed inside the industrial complex are lying abandoned in dilapidated condition for the last several years while a larger portion of the Industrial Centre is lying unused, covered by undergrowth and thorny weeds. Moreover, erosion of industry land by Sille river and encroachment are adding to the problems of the industrial centre.
It is pertinent to mention that Chief Minister Nabam Tuki during July last year directed the Industries department officers to put efforts to operationalise Niglok IGC on an urgent basis. He suggested for opting solar power in order to meet the power crisis besides taking up the road repairing work connecting the Industrial Growth Centre on priority.
“We are eagerly looking forward for an outcome of the Chief Minister’s initiative for development of the IGC without further delay. Only time will tell how fruitful these ventures will be, if at all it takes off”, said a local.

NEDFI to take up comprehensive study
on skill development in Arunachal
ITANAGAR, Dec 8: The North Eastern Development and Finance Corporation Ltd (NEDFi) will be taking up a comprehensive study on various issues of skill development in the state soon. A meeting was held between the state government officers and representatives of NEDFi in the Conference Hall of the Planning Department here yesterday to chalk out the modalities in this regard including the Terms of Reference (ToR).
The Chairman and Managing Director, NEDFi informed that a Comprehensive study on skill development encompassing all the North Eastern states is being presently undertaken by the Advisory and Consultancy Division of NEDFi under its Techno Economic Development Fund. The NEDFi has completed the study in Sikkim and has decided to undertake the study in Arunachal Pradesh, he added.
Stating that the study will focus on the existing skill development scenario in the state and will suggest strategies of skilling the employable population, the CMD, NEDFi sought the active support and assistance in carrying out the study in Arunachal.
Secretary, Skill Development urged that the study should bring out specific recommendations for the government to implement rather than generic solutions. He further suggested that the 4000 youths, who are already beneficiaries of the state skill initiative, will form a good source of primary data for the study.
Commissioner Agriculture/Horticulture, Commissioner Education and Commissioner Fisheries also put forward suggestions on the issue pertaining to their departments. Secretary and Director of the Skill Development & Employment Generation Department being the nodal department put forward the views of the department and requested conducting the study in a realistic manner with more input of primary data based on a large sample while, Secretary, Planning emphasized on identifying psychology linked vocation and employable skills.
Earlier, chairing the meeting Principal Secretary Finance informed that skill development is high priority agenda of the state government and it is committed to provide all necessary assistance to the unemployed youth for channelizing their talent and energy for constructive activities. While assuring the NEDFi officials of all support from the state government, he further requested NEDFi to come up with a report which is practical and feasible taking into account the past experiences of government policies and programmes on skill development.

Bollywood ready to shoot “Rangoon” in January

PASIGHAT, Dec 8: Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Vishal Bharadwaj is all set to shoot his upcoming film “Rangoon” in East Siang and Siang districts.
Saif Ali Khan, Sahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut will play the lead roles in the film besides two acclaimed stars from London. The film is being produced and directed by Sajid Nadiadwala and Bharadwaj based on World War II where some Indian soldiers fought for the British Army against Subhash Chandra Bose’s Indian National Army in Rangoon, Myanmar.
On July 28 last, Bharadwaj along with entourage of six members visited couples of places to identify locations for shooting.
“Komsing bridge, Kebang, Bodak, Partung etc have been chosen as locations for shooting,” told Associate Producer of the film Vikas Mehta, who is currently on a tour to Pasighat along with coordinator Sunil Tiwari, in an exclusive interview here today.
The shooting of the film will start from second week of January, Mehta informed.
East Siang Deputy Commissioner Isha Khosla and District Tourism Officer Nui Talong are extending all possible help and cooperation.
Meanwhile, the DC has assured Mehta that her administration will ensure safety, security and comfortable stay of the entire Bollywood team during their stay in the district for shooting. Adequate security personnel will also be deployed for traffic and crowd control.

Congress is in self destructive mood
The Congress party today blocked functioning of the both houses of parliament. Alleging
that BJP is indulging in vendetta politics by trying to drag Gandhi family into national
herald issue, Congress protested inside parliament and disrupted functioning. Earlier
today a trial Court in Delhi directed Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other alleged
accused to appear in person on 19th of this month. Sonia and Rahul's pleas challenging
summons issued to them in the case by the trial court was dismissed by the Delhi
High Court yesterday. The summons were issued on a criminal complaint lodged by BJP
leader Subramanian Swamy for alleged cheating and misappropriation of funds in acquiring
ownership of now-
While BJP categorically stated that it has no role to play in the case the Congress is refusing to believe them and have upped the ante against BJP. It is too early to say whether BJP is indulging in political vendetta by using Dr Swamy. Just because the case has been filed by party leader Subramanian Swamy, the Congress should not start blaming the ruling government. Also it makes no sense to block the functioning of parliament over a court case. If indeed Congress is sure that their leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi has not done anything wrong they have nothing to fear. They should fight it out at court and prove their innocence. Disrupting the functioning of parliament and thereby harming the chances of clearing important bill like GST, the Congress is only damaging the image of party.

Extend cooperation
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) student union (RGUSU) would like to circulate the information to all the citizens particularly to the entire fraternity of RGU that the security system has been tightened, particularity, in the entrance gate in order to stop illegal trespass and to maintain the sacrosanct environment of institution.
The following measures have been taken to strengthening the security system.
1. Strict checking of outsiders and vehicles entering campus has been implemented since last few months.
2. The vehicle pass card are provided to all the vehicles of students, faculty members, staffs and the administrative officers of RGU for proper identification, which is to be pasted in their vehicles and they need to show/produce it while passing through the gate.
3. The gate shall remain closed after 10.00 PM and no outsiders shall be allowed to enter the campus. Any members of RGU leaving campus after 10.00 PM need to register their names in the security register. Those who come after 10.00 PM will be strictly checked and may be asked to produce their identity card, irrespective of their position and status.
4. All the members of RGU and outsiders should cooperate with the security system and security personnel. If anybody irrespective of their position and status misbehave or torture the security personnel during the duty, it will be taken seriously.
5. The RGU bus service is for bonafide members of the University. The bus shall be checked strictly while leaving and returning to campus. All the passengers of the bus must comply with the checking norms and produce identity card whenever asked by the security personnel.
6. If anyone is found to possess illegal items like liquor and other intoxicated items during checking in the gate, severe action shall be taken against the particular person.
7. The security personnel of RGU under the guidance of chief security officer Techi Badal is doing good job for the protection of properties as well as to maintain decorum of the University. Therefore we the Rajiv Gandhi University Students Union (RGUSU) humbly appeal to the concern citizens to cooperate and abide with security norms for the betterment of the university cam pus.

Implement Allahabad high court order in Arunachal
Dear Editor,
In August this year following a petition filed by one Umesh Kumar Singh, the honourable Allahabad High Court ordered all the government servants, elected representatives, members of judiciary and any other persons who get any benefit or salary from the state exchequer or public fund to send their children to schools run by the state education board. Justice Sudhir Agarwal, passing the historic judgment ruled that an amount equal to the school fees should be deposited by the officials and elected representatives to the state exchequer, for every child going to a private school which is not maintained by the state government.
This order of the Allahabad High Court is very relevant for the state like Arunachal
Pradesh where most of the Govt. run schools are paralyzed or remains defunct due

One of the most obvious reasons for the poor quality of education in our state is the poor attention of the govt., public representatives, parents and teachers towards the government schools. Due to the poor attention of political leaders, govt. officers, high profile businessmen, etc. the quality of govt. schools are becoming bad to worst day by day. Because these sections of the society always send their children to highly paid private schools and therefore they do not care about the govt. schools. In govt. schools, student hailing from poor family background are studying though quality may not be as good as private schools.
Therefore, considering all these facts, if the state govt. follows order of Allahabad High Court, the system of education will improve and the quality education will be imparted even in govt. schools. If this system is introduced in our state also, the public representatives, govt. officers, business tycoons will start sending their children to the govt. run schools, and thereby the conditions of school will improve to a great extent. Then, in coming days, for sure the gap between rich and poor in the field of education will be minimized up to some extent.

Encouraging gambling in the name of Mini Mela
Dear editor,
Through the column of your esteemed daily I would like to draw the kind attention of the concern authorities regarding the playing of dice in the name of Mini Mela. I have seen different types of Mela's since childhood but from the beginning of this year a unique type of Mela is being organized in the capital complex, which lasts more than two months. This Mini Mela has nothing to do with usual Mela as one cannot find any eateries, entertainment activities, shops and games. It only focuses in playing of dice. I thought that Mela refers to 'shows and exhibitions' but I didn't know that playing dice is also major part of mela according to them.
Last but not the least I would like to ask the authorities who gives them the permission to organize gambling? And who gives them such ideas of playing dice in the name of mini mela. I request them not to indulge in such kind of practice as we all are well aware that playing dice is banned within the jurisdiction of capital complex.
